We spent our special night at Sushi Noz when we visited NY. We were informed during the reservation that Chef Nozomu Abe would not presented at that day. It was okay for us as we once had the worst experience at the world-most famous sushi omakase place so nothing can be worse than that.We arrived just a little bit early so we were first asked to wait in front of the ash room while the chefs prepared for the very last bit. Then, we got invited to the Hinoki room right on the reservation time. The dinning room definitely brought us back to Japan. Feel warm and familiar. There was a little sealed letter set in front of us. I found it such a lovely setup. Then, we ordered different Sake for that night Omakase. The price was quite high for a glass. They started off with 6 dishes before followed by 11 sushi (including a hand-roll) then finished off with Miso soup, Tamakoyaki and the sweetest melon. All 6 dishes definitely one of the best combination of best ingredients. However, I found this far from Edomae style. It’s more of western style for us. Although, we still like all the dishes. For the sushi, I found it interesting the way they chose to serve us each ingredient like Ika was served fresh, chewy and crispy (usually served super soft). Then, the rest of the sushi lines were served in a softer texture manner in a good interesting way. But to be honest, we found the ingredients a bit simple than any other Omakase we’ve been to. Nothing beyond expectation. The meal finished with the sweetest melon from Hokkaido. I miss this course ending. I think a lot of Omakase places stop serving melon and replace with other type of dessert.Definitely you will be satisfied with the Omakase course but I found it a bit pricey and not valued for paying $1,500 (including drinks and tip) for 2. - Mind Thamaratanasiri

Sushi Noz Introduce

Welcome to Sushi Noz, a world-class sushi restaurant that offers a truly extraordinary and unforgettable dining experience in the heart of New York City. Tucked away on a quiet street on the Upper East Side, this establishment is more than just a place to eat sushi; it's a meticulously crafted culinary journey led by Master Chef Nozomu Abe. The ambiance is a remarkable escape from the city's hustle and bustle, with a stunning, minimalist interior made from imported Japanese wood that evokes the feeling of stepping into a traditional Japanese temple. Every detail, from the decor to the presentation of each dish, is designed to create a sense of harmony and refinement. This is a place where you don't just eat a meal; you participate in a ceremonial experience. For those celebrating a special occasion or simply seeking the pinnacle of Japanese cuisine, Sushi Noz represents the very best of what New York's upscale dining scene has to offer.

Sushi Noz is an omakase-style restaurant, meaning "I leave it up to you," where guests entrust the chef to present a curated tasting menu of the finest seasonal ingredients. The meal typically begins with a series of small, exquisitely prepared "otsumami" plates that showcase seasonal fish and vegetables, before transitioning into a selection of nigiri sushi. The menu is a reflection of traditional Edomae style, which focuses on heritage techniques such as marinating and aging to bring out the deepest flavors of the seafood. While one customer found the ingredients to be a "bit simple," another review described the experience as "the greatest meal I've ever had," praising the "complex and intense layers of flavor." The menu is an evolving work of art, with a focus on a singular, high-end tasting menu that changes with the seasons. It's a deep dive into the art of sushi, allowing you to witness true craftsmanship up close at one of the two intimate counters made of 200-year-old Hinoki wood and Tamo ash.

Sushi Noz is located at 181 E 78th St, New York, NY 10075. Its location is a discreet and elegant one, situated just off of bustling 3rd Avenue. This placement allows it to feel like a secluded sanctuary while still being conveniently located within the prestigious Upper East Side. The restaurant is easily accessible by public transportation, with the 77th Street subway station located just two blocks away. This makes it a feasible destination for anyone in the city looking to experience a world-class meal. For those driving, paid street parking is available in the surrounding area, though given the exclusive nature of the experience, it is highly recommended to plan your travel ahead of time. The restaurant also provides a wheelchair-accessible entrance, ensuring that all guests can enter and enjoy this special dining experience. Its prime location in a neighborhood known for its luxury and culture makes it a perfect fit for a high-end dining destination.
