This establishment goes far beyond a simple grab-and-go counter, positioning itself as a destination for homemade comfort food that caters to diverse tastes and dietary preferences.
The concept is straightforward yet executed with a dedication to freshness and variety. The focus on homemade recipes and fresh, locally-sourced ingredients, often highlighted by seasonal selections from local farmers' markets, ensures a vibrant and constantly evolving menu. This commitment to quality and freshness is what keeps local New Yorkers coming back, whether they're looking for a quick lunch, a satisfying dinner, or a healthy option to take home.
While soup is the undisputed star, The Soup Bowl of Park Slope is a true restaurant, offering a well-rounded selection of accompanying items like fresh salads, flavorful bowls, and satisfying grilled sandwiches and paninis. The atmosphere is generally described as casual and trendy, though some reviews note a more no-frills setup focused primarily on the food itself, with a limited number of seating options available for dine-in guests. It’s a place where the locals go, making it a truly authentic Park Slope experience. The simple focus on doing one thing exceptionally well—making soup—has earned it a loyal following in a competitive New York food scene.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I made this place my walking destination and found it worth the trek. The workers are approachable while offering solutions. The perfect date spot also provides excellent staff. The food, while great, was not the greatest of that food we'd ever had. I hope to return to this restaurant shortly.
September 12 · Ana ButlerI have ordered from here several times and it's hard to remember if there was a time the chicken vegetable soup came with a decent chicken/vegetable ratio. The last time I ordered it was mostly onions with some celery. There were about five pieces of chicken. And I think the bread had mold.I would also really appreciate if they started using paper bowls/cups for their soups but that's just my preference.
October 16 · Kathy BatesI frequent The Soup Bowl regularly to try a wide variety of fresh soups. Always approachable, their staff truly cares about your experience and work hard to ensure everyone is treated with respect and kindness. A small business I'm truly proud to support. The soup's delish, too.
April 11 · Alma LacourThis is my absolute favorite place to get food in Park Slope! I go all the time for lunch or to load up on a big soup order to keep in my freezer. Everything they make is divine, and the people are beyond lovely. From the soups to the sandwiches to the salads - it’s truly some of the best food out there. The lobster butternut bisque, in particular, is perhaps one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. It cannot be missed!!
February 23 · Cecily van Buren-FreedmanA GREAT LIL MOM AND POP SPOT****, they relocated just across the street - a bit more space for a bit more variety, THERE SOUPS ARE FANTASTIC***** - and great selections vary everyday, sad no more ice cream but they have other food choices , great area and atmosphere with other shops for items drinks or food.
