I must be honest as always when I am leaving a review about a business because reviews are what makes a business. This place in my opinion is absolutely the worst. For those of you who are familiar with the beautiful buffets we had back in the days before the pandemic even further back like in the year of 2015 and 14 where the buffets were hot flavorful and the food was absolutely good remember those days? Will this place is nothing like it. There is no flavor when it comes to the cabbage, there's no flavor when it comes to the fried chicken, the Rangoon cheese a very hard they allow them to sit there for a period of time and they just become hard. Even down to the chicken and broccoli the chicken does not taste like chicken it does not look like chicken. So it has me wondering what type of meat is it. For those who can clearly say the food is good it tells me you have never tasted very well prepared Chinese food and I say that with respect but facts are facts. People may flock to this place because there's only one price regardless how high you pile your plates but why power your plate with food that is not flavorful? It's just not what a buffet should be the colors of the different foods is colorful and it may even look appetizing but it's not worth the money. Let's talk about the dining area if you look in the video or look at the pictures you'll see it's clutter boxes upon boxes are sitting over in the area where there is to be a soda fountain it's a soda fountain is broken remove it throw it in the garbage instead of allowing it to collect dust and sappy syrup. And then you want to know why you got the rating you did from the Board of Health? Also look at the wall that is built up that's supposedly separate the kitchen from a separate area it's filthy. And this is a small area in which we are supposed to sit and dine. The food at the hot table if it's not bought straight out the kitchen and dumped into the plates then you're eating food that is close to room temperature on a summer day. I would really suggest the board of health get down there much more than they do. People don't be fooled this is not the Chinese food of back in the days this is a restaurant that wants to make money off of people who are gluttons and will eat just about anything offer to them. I'm shameful that I piled my plate up and was unable to give the plate back to them with the food even though I didn't eat it all. I had a couple of bites out of everything and then spit it into a napkin. The food was definitely given to the homeless man who Waits outside of Kings Plaza near the b46 bus stop you all know that man if you are familiar with this area. He even said "can I get some hot sauce or salt" he didn't like it. But as I always say don't take my word for it go ahead and be the guinea pig for yourself. It is not worth the money at all. My suggestion to the company do better really put in concern for your customers and not concern for your pockets when you're serving the community that is more geared towards people of color. Because truly what you're doing is saying they'll eat anything just as long as the Price Is Right. Well I'm here to say you're very much wrong - ItReallyisn'tPersonal B

Yong Kang Street Introduce

For Brooklyn locals and shoppers at the bustling Kings Plaza Shopping Center, Yong Kang Street presents a convenient and varied option for Chinese cuisine and more. Located within the popular mall, this establishment aims to cater to the fast-paced New York lifestyle by offering a range of dishes, from traditional noodles and dumplings to a selection of sushi rolls and bowls. It serves as a go-to spot for an inexpensive and relatively quick meal, whether you’re breaking up a long shopping trip or looking for an easy takeout dinner.

The concept here, as described by patrons, often revolves around a self-service, 'overload-your-plate-one-time' style buffet, although it also features a substantial à la carte menu with clearly priced items. The diversity of the menu extends beyond typical Chinese takeout, incorporating elements like ramen, rice bowls, and various sushi options, reflecting a broader Asian fusion approach designed to appeal to varied tastes. However, potential diners should note that customer feedback is notably mixed, with some praising the value and convenience, while others express significant disappointment regarding food quality, flavor consistency, and the dining environment.

Yong Kang Street is a Chinese restaurant primarily, but its menu clearly extends into other popular Asian food categories. The extensive offerings aim to provide comfort food and quick bites suitable for a casual, family-friendly atmosphere, making it a functional choice for many Brooklyn residents in the area.

Location and Accessibility

Yong Kang Street is situated on the second floor of the Kings Plaza Shopping Center, making it an extremely accessible dining option for anyone visiting the mall in the Marine Park area of Brooklyn. The exact location is: 2, 5100 Kings Plz, Brooklyn, NY 11234, USA.

The establishment's location within a major commercial hub means it benefits from the mall's infrastructure and public transit access. For those driving, paid parking is available in the Kings Plaza parking lot, which simplifies the trip. Furthermore, the restaurant prioritizes accessibility, making it inclusive for all potential patrons:

  • Wheelchair accessible entrance is available through the shopping center.
  • Wheelchair accessible seating is provided within the dining area.

Its strategic spot on the second floor ensures it's easy to find during a shopping excursion or when simply stopping by for a meal in the 11234 zip code.

What is Worth Choosing

Choosing Yong Kang Street is primarily worth considering for its affordability, convenience, and wide-ranging menu variety, especially for New Yorkers who prioritize a quick and accessible meal while shopping or during a busy workday. The combination of Chinese restaurant staples, a unique-to-the-area buffet concept, and sushi options means there is likely something to satisfy different preferences in a group. The self-service buffet-style dining, where offered, is noted by some reviewers for providing substantial portions for one fixed price, which appeals to those looking to maximize value.

Patrons have specifically mentioned that the large portions of noodle and rice dishes are a highlight, with some takeout orders providing enough food for multiple meals. The inclusion of diverse fare like Minced Pork Noodle, Eel Bowl, and Steam Pork & Vegetable Dumplings suggests a menu that attempts to offer more than standard American-Chinese fare. It is an easily locatable spot, and the ability to accept reservations alongside being family-friendly further enhances its utility for a neighborhood dining experience in Brooklyn.

However, prospective customers should temper expectations regarding gourmet quality, as some real-world reviews indicate significant inconsistency in food temperature, freshness, and flavor, particularly concerning the buffet line. While the establishment is appealing for its quick, casual nature and variety—from comfort food to small plates—the feedback suggests that the á la carte or prepared-to-order dishes might offer a better experience than the buffet items. As is often the case in the dynamic NYC food scene, new customers are encouraged to visit and form their own opinion, focusing on the highly-rated menu categories, such as the Yong Kang Noodles or sushi offerings, which represent an appealing fusion of Asian flavors available right inside Kings Plaza.

Given the low price points on many appetizer and roll items, Yong Kang Street serves a vital role as an unpretentious, high-volume dining resource within a major Brooklyn shopping center, perfect for the cost-conscious individual or family needing a fast, substantial meal in the area.
