Bushwick Country Club Introduce
Introduction / Overview
Despite its misleading name, Bushwick Country Club (BCC) is not in Bushwick and is certainly not a country club in the traditional sense. It is, in fact, an iconic, beloved, and fiercely Casual dive bar located right on Grand Street in the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. This establishment is a staple for New Yorkers seeking an authentic, unpretentious, and fun night out.
BCC has earned legendary status in the NYC bar scene for several reasons, perhaps most famously for being credited as the birthplace of the Pickleback shot—a whiskey shot chased by a shot of pickle brine. However, the appeal extends far beyond a clever shot. The bar offers a delightfully eclectic mix of high-low offerings: Great cocktails and a Great beer selection coexisting with an endearingly shabby-chic, cozy interior that welcomes a diverse crowd of Locals and Groups, including those who identify as LGBTQ+ friendly.
While the atmosphere is relaxed, the offerings are comprehensive, providing a full range of Alcohol, including Beer, Hard liquor, and Wine. The core identity of Bushwick Country Club revolves around fun and games. With notable Bar games and a coveted Outdoor seating area featuring its famously ridiculous, makeshift mini-golf course, it provides an interactive and social alternative to the standard Brooklyn bar experience. Its combination of cheap drinks, signature creations, and lively atmosphere makes it a must-visit institution in the neighborhood.

What is Worth Choosing
For any New Yorker stepping into Bushwick Country Club, the choice should be driven by the spirit of the establishment—fun, unpretentious, and local legend.
The Pickleback Experience: This is non-negotiable for a first-timer. Ordering the original Pickleback (often made with Jameson or a similar whiskey) is essential to understanding the bar’s place in global bar history. The combination of a shot of whiskey followed by the salty, garlicky brine is a surprising and addictive combination.
The Backyard Mini-Golf: The outdoor space and the opportunity to play on the ramshackle, character-filled mini-golf course (free for patrons) is the key social draw. Grab a cheap beer like a Miller High Life or Tecate—the perfect low-brow complement to the high-fun activity—and enjoy the unique atmosphere that defines the venue.
The Combo Shots: For those looking for value and signature flair, the combination shots like the Pbr And Jim Beam Bourbon or the classic High Life & Fernet offer a taste of the quintessential dive bar experience. Paired with a few rounds of Big Buck Hunter, it makes for the ultimate laid-back, late-night hang in Williamsburg.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Went in to wait for a friend on a Saturday night. Decent crowd but nowhere near packed. I ask if they have green Chartreuse to make a Last Word and they do. But then another bartender turns around (blonde with glasses) and tells me to “look around. This is a dive bar. Don’t be annoying.” Sorry for trying to pay double the price of a beer for a cocktail you’re fully capable of making. Zero people skills on that woman. The bouncer asked me to excuse her and give it another shot and come back inside, but I was very offended by her behavior. Will not be returning.
April 12 · AdamGreat bar, where they keep the booze flowing and the Idiots from getting thirsty. Awesome pre-dinner spot or apres dinner.
February 01 · Charles WaltersHeather is an angel! She gave me the best “least favorite” drink I’ve ever ordered. Amazing service and atmosphere!
May 26 · Gracie BrumfieldOne of my favorite bars in NYC. The owner and staff are all super friendly and helpful and laid back. Cheap drinks, free cheese balls, games like Connect Four to play, plus the legendary mini golf course out back. Great place to throw a party with friends
January 19 · Marc GiuffreSwung through here on a Sunday afternoon. The slushies were delicious, they had a whiskey coke and a fruitier one. They were honoring a happy hour on beer even on the weekend which was nice. 2 for 1 beers. Backyard space is OK. If you want to play some mini golf just leave your ID with the bartender. It's got some good character. Backyard is dog friendly.
