★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Cafe August is a lovely place to hang out. It is very small, just about 6 bistro tables and a total of maybe 14 seats. You can come here for a good cup of coffee and some sweets like a chocolate brownie ($10) which is served warm with whipped cream. There’s also a limited food menu. Meatballs tasted excellent with very finely mashed potatoes ($32). A glass of wine costs about $18. In other words, it’s a great place for a quick bite or having an informal meeting with a friend at a cozy little place. But you will probably spend a bit more money than you would have expected.
February 05 · Harry BlunderReally cute restaurant in the UES! Food was pretty good but service was a little slow since there was only one server!
July 23 · JoelleA tiny but not cramped and underrated little bistro. Beautiful to sit outside on a sunny day and pretty inside too. Great service and you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu! Only wish they had AC inside but they had a fan going at least so we were comfortable on a warm day.
July 20 · NatashaWhat a nice surprise. I was walking by and noticed this cute cafe. Stopped in for lunch and had the Vegetable Soup and the Italian Tuna in Oli Salad. Both were delicious, as was the warm bread. I didnt realize this was part of the previous two August restaurants. The server was excellent and very personable too. I will be back!!!
April 21 · danny carlinWent here on Friday (8/8/25) around 7:30 PM intending to enjoy dessert and drinks, but left feeling extremely uncomfortable due to what I believe was racial discrimination from our waitress. At first, I assumed she might just be having a rough day (as a fellow waitress, I understand this happens). However, I overheard her warmly greeting, laughing with, and engaging with the other two tables nearby—both of which were white customers. When she came to our table, she gave no greeting or smile, wore an unpleasant expression and simply dropped the menus in front of us which all of us felt. This stark difference in treatment made us feel unwelcome and disrespected. We decided to leave without ordering. I would usually leave a tip for the inconvenience, but I felt so disgusted by the experience that I couldn’t bring myself to leave a dime.
