ER HOT POT 贰火锅 - 36th St Introduce
In the vibrant tapestry of New York City's culinary scene, there are places that specialize in a single cuisine, and then there are places that offer an entire cultural experience. ER HOT POT 贰火锅 on 36th Street is decidedly the latter. It stands out not only as a destination for authentic Chinese cuisine but also as a premier spot for the communal and delicious ritual of hot pot. This cozy and trendy restaurant, nestled in the heart of Midtown, provides a unique blend of interactive dining and quick, satisfying takeaway options. Whether you're a seasoned hot pot enthusiast or a curious newcomer, ER HOT POT offers a welcoming environment where food is meant to be a shared journey.
The core of the experience at ER HOT POT is, of course, the hot pot itself. For the uninitiated, hot pot is an interactive dining style where a simmering pot of broth is placed in the center of the table, and diners cook their own raw ingredients—ranging from fresh vegetables and mushrooms to tender slices of meat and noodles—by dipping them into the bubbling broth. It's a social and fun activity that encourages conversation and connection, making it an ideal choice for groups of friends and family. The restaurant's menu for hot pot is highly customizable with its "Choose Your Own" option, which requires selecting at least six items, giving diners the freedom to craft their perfect meal. This level of personalization is a major highlight, allowing for endless flavor combinations and ensuring that everyone at the table finds something they love.
Beyond the hot pot, ER HOT POT serves a wide array of other dishes, solidifying its role as a versatile Chinese restaurant and takeaway spot. The braised dishes, like the savory Stewed Pork Feet and the tender Braised Beef Tendon, are perfect for a hearty solo meal or as a side dish to share. Appetizers such as Fried Pork Belly, Brown Sugar Sticky Rice Cake, and Spring Rolls provide a delicious start to any meal. This dual offering of a full-service, social hot pot experience and convenient, pre-prepared Chinese dishes makes ER HOT POT a destination for multiple occasions. You can come for a lively group dinner with friends, or you can simply stop by for a quick and satisfying takeout meal to enjoy at home or on the go. This flexibility is what makes it so valuable to the busy New Yorker.
The atmosphere is described as casual, cozy, and trendy, which creates a comfortable and inviting space. The restaurant is well-suited for groups, as noted in a review where a customer had "so much fun cooking them together" with friends. The friendly and accommodating nature of the staff, along with the option for reservations, ensures that planning a group outing is stress-free. In a neighborhood filled with standard dining options, ER HOT POT 贰火锅 offers something different: a dining experience that is both flavorful and memorable, inviting locals and tourists alike to sit down, cook, and connect.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Food: 4 out of 5Service: 4 out of 5Atmosphere: 4 out of 5Value: 3.5 out of 5Overall: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4 out of 5Recommendations: Tomato Base, Enoki Mushroom, Fatty Beef Rolls, NoodlesThis is a solid choice for hot pot, but I think there are probably better hot pot places in Manhattan. It has decent hot pot and ingredients but everything’s pretty standard and nothing’s really special that makes me want to come back again. Also I came for Saturday lunch and there wasn’t a lot of people there… Next time I want hotpot in Manhattan I will probably try a different spot, but this is not a bad option if you are looking for a standard, little above average hot pot.
April 06 · Song Ting TangI went here with a whole crew of my friends and had such a good time I didn't want to leave! Such a delicious split hotpot, so many great dishes. We were drinking and talking almost until they kicked us out. The whole table picked a slew of great items off the list and it was so much fun cooking them together. I really recommend coming through!
May 25 · Joe AhearnI visited this restaurant on my birthday, and it was such a funny and special experience! The staff played a birthday song for me and celebrated together, which made me feel really happy and appreciated. The food was absolutely delicious, making the entire experience even more memorable. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who looking a good hot pot place.
February 26 · Arim LeeSomehow ended up at this cozy hot pot restaurant. Not as large as some other places you would find around the city or in Flushing but it was a pleasant surprise. After putting in the reservation online, there was another stage of waiting upon arrival.Like all other restaurant in the city during the weekend, there was a wait but it wasn’t too bad.We were able to seat in a corner where they gave us an extra seat to make it work. Looked like they tried to squeeze in as much seating as physically possible. As a result, it’s very cramped and the condiment booth for the dipping sauce was on the smaller side. The food tasted great and they were fresh.Only negative about the place is that they were too busy to actually attend to our table. The price wasn’t too bad compared to other hotpot restaurant in the city.I would definitely consider coming back if I was in the mood for hotpot inside the city.As with dinning in any hotpot places, just be prepared to have your clothes smell like hotpot.
November 26 · David YWow so many delectable choices from this Chengdu style hot pot spot. We had a hot pot lunch for four at $25 each with so much food we could not finish. A fun and special place!
