Factory Tamal Introduce
In a city as dynamic and diverse as New York, finding a restaurant that specializes in one dish and perfects it is a rare treat. Factory Tamal, located on East 4th Street in the lively Greenwich Village, is just such a place. While the name highlights its specialty, this casual and cozy eatery is far more than just a tamale shop. It’s a genuine culinary gem that offers a taste of authentic Mexican comfort food, with a menu that also includes delicious sandwiches, tortas, and salads. Factory Tamal provides a perfect escape from the city's hustle and bustle, offering a fast, flavorful, and welcoming dining experience.
The heart of Factory Tamal's reputation lies in its tamales. These are not your average pre-made tamales; as one customer review notes, the tamales are made from scratch, with the kitchen grinding the corn themselves "trying to stay as traditional as possible." This dedication to authenticity and quality is evident in every bite. The menu features a variety of tamales, including vegetarian options like the Rajas Con Queso (sliced jalapeño with cheese) and the popular Mole Poblano with Chicken. A customer review highlighted that they "hadn’t realized this place was here" but were delighted to find that all three vegetarian tamales were "delicious." Another patron was so impressed they said, "The dishes had perfect consistency... The meals impress, the atmosphere feels easy-going, the service stands out, and pleasant expressions appear. The restaurant stands out from others."
Beyond the tamales, Factory Tamal’s menu is surprisingly extensive, catering to a variety of tastes and dining preferences. The selection of sandwiches and tortas, which are Mexican-style sandwiches, is a major highlight. Popular options include the spicy Torta de Tinga and the rich Fern Sandwich. They also offer a range of paninis, salads, and soups, like the Tinga Soup. This diverse menu ensures that while the tamales are the star, there are plenty of other delicious choices for a full meal or a quick bite. The drinks menu is equally exciting, with classic Mexican beverages like Agua de Horchata and Jarritos Soda.
The atmosphere at Factory Tamal is casual and friendly, making it an excellent choice for solo dining, a family outing, or a quick lunch with colleagues. Its fast service is a key feature, perfect for the on-the-go nature of New York life. Whether you're dining in at one of their cozy tables or grabbing an order for takeout, the staff provides "sufficient courtesy and valuable assistance," ensuring a pleasant experience every time. The restaurant’s family-friendly and tourist-friendly crowd makes it a welcoming spot for everyone looking for a high-quality, authentic meal in a comfortable setting.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Tamales for dinner? Yes please. They have three vegetarian tamales, and all were delicious. I hadn’t realized this place was here. One table outside - nice spot to sit and enjoy the neighborhood.
September 09 · Aaron Bos-WahlWhen I'm back in the neighborhood, this will be my first stop. The dishes had perfect consistency. The employees offer sufficient courtesy and valuable assistance. The meals impress, the atmosphere feels easy-going, the service stands out, and pleasant expressions appear. The restaurant stands out from others.
September 07 · do buiDecent spot for grab and go Mexican sandwiches and tamales. I had the option with longaniza and thought it was decent. Space is small so limited seating options are available.
January 20 · Rovik RobertThe Sanwich was good but to much mix greens and a little meat ! You don’t really taste the meet ! The tamal has good flavor but I think it was made in the morning that it was dry !
May 20 · JUAN CARLOS ROJASGlad I got to come here. The tamales and torts were perfect. I had a Tinga Torta and it was flavorful. Filled with jalapeños and sauce on the chicken that makes you smile with every bite. The tamales are moist and full of meat. They are so delicious and I would recommend anyone who wants a handmade tamale to come here.
