★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1During our trip to New York, we discovered Field Guide as a great dinner option. The restaurant is located in a charming area near the river, surrounded by a variety of other dining spots. The atmosphere could be a little bit classic, with a sober décor. While the space is relatively small, the layout feels comfortable, with well-spaced tables that provide a sense of privacy. The menu offers a thoughtful variety of dishes, showing an excellent balance of flavors. I highly recommend the scallops and the wagyu beef—both were beautifully prepared and full of flavor. The only drawback was the service, which felt a bit too informal for the restaurant’s overall style. The staff could be more attentive, especially when it comes to guiding diners through the menu and the flow of the experience. That said, the quality of the food more than made up for it. If you’re looking for refined flavors in a relaxed setting, Field Guide is definitely worth a visit.
May 18 · Emiliano ErroCan honestly say this is my new favorite restaurant in the neighborhood. Every dish we had was creative and so well executed. My favorites were the tuna crudo and Waygu steak but everything we had from the gem salad to the scallops were incredible. Not to mention, the staff was so friendly and explained each dish to us in detail, as well as gave a great wine recommendation. The patio was where we sat and was so ideal for a nice day, but also has a retractable covering. We will be back many times!
May 03 · Veronica NappiField guide offers an intimate atmosphere with a pleasant ambience perfect for a night out. While the space felt empty during my visit, the service was impeccable and attentive. We were recommended to order 3 dishes per person so we opted for 6. Dishes are served in pairs starting with terrine and baby gem salad. Terrine, while it was good, didn’t quite hit the spot and isn’t something we’d order again. On the other hand, baby gem salad really stood out, refreshing and well balanced, definitely a must for horseradish lovers.Hokkaido scallops were fantastic, served with a smooth creamy sauce that had a subtle hint of hazelnut. This dish was truly spectacular. However, the risotto served alongside it, while delicious at first, became overly salty. Wish we were advised to pair it with something more acidic to balance the richness/saltiness of the scallopsAnd the highlights of the night, rainbow trout and Iberco pork. Every bite was a perfect balance of flavors, innovative yet comforting, it kept getting better at every bite, making us eager to return for more of their other main dishes. For dessert, we had the pumpkin hazelnut tart, which was beautifully crafted with creative flavors but way too rich and heavy after such a big meal.Overall, we really enjoyed our meal and will be coming back! Would probably focus more on their main dishes.
January 18 · Veeta LLunch at Field Guide was amazing. It was supposed to be a sunny day so we wanted to sit outside but it got a bit windy so our waiter proactively ushered us inside. We sat at the bar, got a surprise complimentary shot of Japanese whiskey, and the bartender low-key gave main character energy — so knowledgeable and sweet. The sweet potato hash was so good! Great food, great company, great service. 10/10 would go back just for the vibes (and maybe the potatoes) but also for a relaxing + delicious Sunday brunch with your favorite people.
May 18 · Shizu OkusaAbsolutely incredible brunch. The avocado-crab toast was a standout—three layers of texture and so much flavor. Bacon on the side was perfectly done with just the right balance of pepper and sweetness. I had the Florals for Spring cocktail—clever, floral, and delicious. Me and my friend both work in fashion so it actually made us laugh as well. The space is clean and stylish without being overdone, and the staff were genuinely lovely—like my friend went to the restroom and the server came to refold her napkin for her 😭. Can’t wait to come back. Honestly the best brunch I had in a while. Next time I’m definitely coming back for a date.
