What is worth choosing
Choosing a deli in New York is often about finding the right balance between convenience, price, and quality. Based on customer feedback, Fifth Avenue Deli Mart offers a mix of positive and negative experiences. One review highlights the deli's role as a small, reliable spot that provides good deli sandwiches and snacks. The reviewer also mentions the availability of lottery tickets and the staff's adherence to COVID-19 prevention measures, such as wearing masks and gloves, which signals a commitment to safety and community service. This perspective suggests that for a simple, fast, and no-frills meal, the deli can be a perfectly fine choice.
However, another customer's experience presents a different side. This review details a negative interaction with a cook who had a "very bad attitude," leading to an incorrect order and a frustrating service experience. This indicates that while the deli may offer a wide range of options and convenience, the quality of service can be inconsistent. The fact that the order was wrong and the staff member was unwilling to correct the mistake suggests potential issues with customer service and attention to detail, which are crucial for any business, especially one that relies on repeat customers. For a New Yorker who values a positive and accurate transaction, this aspect is worth considering before a visit.
Ultimately, what is worth choosing about Fifth Avenue Deli Mart depends on what you prioritize. If you are looking for a quick and convenient spot for a classic deli sandwich or a hot platter, and you are willing to overlook potential service inconsistencies, it might be the right place for you. The extensive menu, including a wide array of sandwiches and diverse platters, offers a lot of variety for a quick visit. The deli's role as a neighborhood hub, with its welcoming stance on community inclusivity, also makes it a place that many people feel good about supporting. However, if consistent quality and friendly, attentive service are your top priorities, it might be advisable to go in with cautious expectations. It remains a fixture of the neighborhood, providing a valuable service, even if the experience can sometimes vary from one visit to the next.

Fifth Avenue Deli Mart Reviews

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My experience this morning in this store was not good. First the cook had a very bad attitude he acted like he really didn’t want to serve me. I was purchasing 5 breakfast sandwiches and a corn muffin which he got wrong. I gave him the paper with all the sandwiches that I wanted written on it and he still got it wrong. then he had the nerve to get an attitude again when I told him I needed two more sandwiches. The service in this store was not a great experience and I will not spend any more of my money in this establishment.
