Today was my second trip to the French Pastry House. The first I took out a slice of Apple Tart- totally excellent- flaky crust and crisp apple slices. Today stayed there and had cherry tart with an espresso. Both perfect. Sour cherry not just sugary jam. The chairs inside are very comfortable and modern. The service good and friendly. - SANDRA BETELAK MANNARINO

What is Worth Choosing

When you walk into the French Pastry House, what should you choose to experience the best of what they offer? Based on the enthusiastic feedback from local patrons, the clear winners are their classic fruit-based tarts and a fresh espresso pairing.

The Apple Tart is a mandatory starting point. The description of its "flaky crust and crisp apple slices" speaks to a mastery of texture and simple, clean flavors—the hallmark of a good patisserie. It’s an ideal choice for a morning treat or a midday dessert.

Equally compelling is the Cherry Tart. The customer praise highlighting the use of sour cherry instead of just sugary jam is the strongest possible endorsement. This suggests a sophisticated approach to dessert that appeals to adults who prefer depth and tanginess over cloying sweetness. For a refined palate, this tart is the clear choice.

Finally, you absolutely must pair your selection with one of their coffee offerings. The fact that the espresso has been praised by a self-proclaimed coffee aficionado for its "clarity of the tastes" and freshness means this is a coffee house as much as it is a pastry house. A perfect Apple Tart and a fresh espresso represent the ultimate French Pastry House experience, delivering a moment of authentic European indulgence right on Avenue Z in Brooklyn.

In conclusion, the French Pastry House is a valuable addition to Brooklyn's rich and ever-expanding food landscape.
