September 14 · MABEWe happened to walk by today and saw that Gogyo just opened. We’ve been waiting for this spot for long time and it did not disappoint! They’re in their pre-opening phase right now and mainly serving ramen at the pre-opening. The signature miso ramen was absolutely incredible — super flavorful and tasted just like the ones we’ve had in Japan. Our server, Yoji, was so friendly and gave us such a warm, thoughtful intro to the menu, which really made the whole experience feel cozy and welcoming.

September 15 · Jose PerezWalked in with 2 friends to inquire if they were open. They were so we decided to try it out.Since they were soft opening, the menu was limited. There were no appetizers or cocktails available even though their bar was beautifully stocked especially with high end japanese whiskeys. But it was OK, we weren't looking to get imbibed for lunch. They did however have an extensive selection of ramen. I think it was 7 or 8 different kinds which in itself is impressive. One of them was a tsukemen (dipping) ramen with a cold broth for this warm weather we've been having. In hindsight, I wish I got to try that too but next time....The meal starts off with 2 mini "salads": a seaweed salad with a vinegar dressing. I tasted yuzu in it too. The other was a watercress salad with sesame seeds and pine nuts. Both were great and teased out palates for the ramen.One of my friends and I had the house signature ramen. I forgot the name but it was a scorched miso ramen. They basically fry the miso in hot oil and immediately shut off the heat. It was very good, slightly oily but not overwhelming. It actually helped the broth coat the noodles well. Our other friend had the tonkatsu broth ramen. This was very good as well. His was a pork broth based ramen but was accentuated with some ikura and this added another flavor profile to the broth. Considering that this was a tonkotsu, it was actually a very lighter broth, which is definitely not a bad thing.At the end of the meal, they gave us gelato, which was good but i prefer Sundaes Best (see my review).This was a really nice soft opening. I can't wait to go back and try the full menu that they said they would roll out soon.
