Jimmy's Corner Introduce
In a neighborhood defined by dazzling billboards and sleek modernity, Jimmy's Corner stands as a beloved relic of old New York. This quintessential dive bar, nestled in the heart of Times Square, is a refreshing escape from the polished, often overpriced, establishments that surround it. It is a place that feels "stuck in time" in the best possible way, offering a genuine, no-frills bar experience that is increasingly rare in the city. The moment you step inside, you are transported to a place of unpolished charm, where the focus is on good company, great drinks, and a lively, unpretentious atmosphere.
More than just a bar, Jimmy's Corner is a slice of New York history. Originally opened by the late boxing trainer and legend Jimmy Glenn, the walls are covered with a rich collection of boxing memorabilia, telling stories of a bygone era. This unique decor, combined with the dim lighting and cozy setting, creates an ambiance that is both nostalgic and inviting. It's a place where tourists can rub shoulders with true locals, and where striking up a conversation with a stranger feels natural and easy. Whether you’re looking for a quick beer before a show or a place to settle in for a few rounds with friends, Jimmy's Corner offers a welcoming and authentic experience that is truly hard to find anywhere else in Midtown.
Jimmy's Corner is perfectly situated at 140 W 44th St, New York, NY 10036, USA. Its location is a key part of its appeal, as it is conveniently tucked away on a side street in the bustling Theater District. This makes it a perfect stop for a pre- or post-theater drink without the overwhelming crowds of Broadway.
The bar's central position makes it highly accessible for anyone in the city. It is just a short walk from major transportation hubs, including the Times Square-42nd Street subway station, which services a multitude of lines. This makes it easy for both New Yorkers and visitors to get there from any part of the city. While it is a narrow and cozy space, it is a prime spot for anyone looking for a bar that is easy to get to and worth the trip. For those arriving by car, paid parking garages and street parking are available nearby, though as is typical for the area, finding a spot can be challenging.
Jimmy's Corner keeps its offerings simple and effective, focusing on the quality and value of its drinks. It's a place that knows what it does well and sticks to it.
- Great Beer Selection: The bar features a solid selection of beers, both on tap and in bottles. The draught list includes classics like Budweiser and Stella Artois, as well as craft options like Goose Island IPA and Elysian Space Dust. The bottle selection is also impressive, offering everything from Blue Point Toasted Lager to Crabbies Ginger Beer.
- Affordable Shots and Cocktails: In a city known for its high prices, Jimmy's Corner is famous for its exceptionally cheap yet good shots. With options like Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey and Sauza Tequila at just $4.00, it’s an absolute steal. The bar also offers classic drinks and some unique concoctions like the Jameson Picklebacks and the "Rudy's Mexican Hat Dance."
- Table Service: While the bar can get crowded, patrons can find a small number of tables in the back. Table service is available, allowing groups to enjoy their drinks comfortably.
- Sports and Entertainment: The bar has a lively energy, often playing pop music and hosting live music. Its connection to the world of boxing makes it a great spot for sports enthusiasts. It's an excellent place to go if you want to soak up some energy and enjoy the buzz of a classic NYC bar.
Jimmy's Corner has a distinct personality and several key features that set it apart from other bars in the city.
- Authentic Dive Bar Vibe: This is arguably the biggest highlight. The bar embraces its unpolished, old-school character unapologetically. The dim lighting, classic decor, and "stuck-in-time" feel are part of its charm. It's a genuine experience for anyone looking to get away from the tourist-heavy, high-end scene.
- Boxing Memorabilia: The walls are adorned with a fascinating collection of boxing-related photos and posters. This memorabilia tells the story of the bar's founder, Jimmy Glenn, and adds a layer of history and character that is unique to this establishment.
- Affordable Drinks: In a city where a beer can easily cost you $10 or more, the prices at Jimmy's Corner are a major draw. The affordable drinks, especially the $4 shots and reasonably priced beers, make it a budget-friendly option for a great night out.
- Friendly and Social Atmosphere: The small, narrow space and lively crowd make it easy to strike up conversations with others. It's a place where people are friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming, fostering a sense of community that is often missing from larger venues.
- Fast Service: Despite the crowds, the bartenders are known for being quick and efficient. This ensures that even when the place is packed, you won't be waiting long to get your drink.

In a city full of options, what makes Jimmy's Corner a must-visit bar? The answer lies in its authenticity and character. While other bars in the area might offer more in terms of modern amenities or sleek design, Jimmy's Corner offers something more valuable: a real, unadulterated taste of old New York.
It is the ideal choice for anyone who appreciates a no-frills, no-attitude environment. The bar's atmosphere is loud, lively, and a little chaotic in a good way, which makes it perfect for a fun night out with friends or for soaking up some local energy. The combination of its historic charm, incredible affordability, and friendly crowd creates a truly unique and memorable experience. You can grab a beer, chat with a local, and feel like you're part of a neighborhood institution, even if you’re just visiting.
For those who might be hesitant about a "dive bar," it's important to understand that this is a dive bar with a heart and a rich history. The consistent quality of service and the legendary affordability make it a reliable spot for a great time. It's not a place for a quiet, intimate conversation, but it's an excellent choice for a night of noise, nostalgia, and authentic New York energy. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We stopped by Jimmy’s Corner around 9:30 PM while walking through Midtown Manhattan — and the place was already buzzing with energy. If you’re looking for a classic, no-frills New York bar experience, this is definitely the kind of spot you’ll want to check out — with a few things to keep in mind. 😉When we arrived, the bar was pretty full, but we managed to grab two seats right at the bar, near the bartender. We ordered a round of beers, and service was quick 🍺✅The atmosphere? Loud, lively, and a little chaotic — in a good way. People were talking, laughing, drinking, and enjoying the vibe. There was even live music, which added a fun touch and made the place feel very alive 🎶🗣️💭 The interior definitely feels stuck in time — and that’s part of its charm, depending on your taste. The decor is old-school, the lighting is dim, and everything has that been-here-forever feel. If you’re into modern, sleek bars, this might not be your scene. But if you’re down for a bit of gritty NYC character — this bar leans into it unapologetically.🚻 Small note: There’s only one restroom stall for everyone. It’s tiny, and for such a packed place, it felt like not nearly enough. But hey — it’s a small, narrow bar, and space is clearly limited. In short:✨ A great place for a quick drink and soaking up some vintage New York bar vibes⚠️ Don’t expect anything fancy — this place is all about the feel, not the finishes💡 Probably not ideal if you’re looking for a quiet conversation — this one’s all about noise, nostalgia, and night-out energy⭐️ Overall, I’d give it a solid 3.5 out of 5.It delivers on the atmosphere it promises — just know what you’re walking into.👉 RECOMMEND 🍻 (Personally mine)
July 10 · Maryna StupakJimmy’s Corner is the real deal — a true Times Square dive bar. It’s small, unpolished, and full of character. Had an awesome time chatting with an Irish carpenter over a couple of pints (only $5 each — absolute steal for Times Square!). The bar seating makes it easy to strike up conversations with actual people, not just tourists. Loved the vibe, will definitely be back. On go there if you like Dive bars !
August 10 · Pankaj ShahPros cheap place to get drinks in Times Square.Cons it’s so filthy here. I’m a fan of dive bars but they never clean here. It’s absolutely covered in dirt and grime.Recommend you order beer by the bottle.
May 15 · CharlieFirst thing I noticed was that the place smelled so bad and hot but I was willing to dismiss it since we went there to have a good time. It was my last chance to hang out with my best friend before I move to a different city. The service was horrendous the server was extremely rude and passive aggressive.I forgot to tip her for a second while I was paying in cash and she yelled at us for that. I also got confused with my order since I couldn't think of the word for the drink I wanted to order and said different things and she was so sarcastic for my mistake and she made fun of my action to the customers next to us. I was sitting right behind her I could obviously hear her. She is such a hateful person and a bully and she ruined my last night with my friend. We are probably half your age please act like a grown up.Yea so if you want a cheap drink while sitting in a damp hot urine smelling pit with horrendous service go for it
July 22 · HyeTucked away in the heart of Manhattan, this charming, budget-friendly bar offers a warm and intimate atmosphere. I tried their IPA for just $4.50 and personally found the taste delightful. If you're a fan of boxing or history, this place is a must-visit — the walls are covered with vintage photographs and classic fight posters. Its central location is another major bonus.
