Salt & Straw Introduce
In the bustling metropolis of New York City, where a new culinary trend emerges seemingly every day, there's one sweet spot that stands out from the crowd. Salt & Straw, the celebrated ice cream shop, has brought its unique and wildly creative flavors from its Oregon roots to the heart of the West Village. For anyone in New York with a craving for something truly special, this is not your average ice cream shop. It's a place where imagination meets dessert, where classic flavors are reimagined, and where the unexpected is always on the menu.
Since its arrival, Salt & Straw has captivated the city's foodies and casual treat-seekers alike. The shop has built a reputation for its commitment to high-quality, locally sourced ingredients and its fearless approach to flavor. They don't just sell ice cream; they sell an experience. A visit to Salt & Straw is an adventure for your taste buds, encouraging you to try a variety of their innovative concoctions. One of the best parts of the experience is the encouragement to sample flavors before you buy, using proper silverware to reduce waste, which adds to the thoughtful and eco-conscious ethos of the brand. This simple act of tasting allows you to discover a new favorite flavor, whether it’s a sweet classic or one of their more adventurous seasonal offerings.
The menu at Salt & Straw is a testament to their creativity. While they offer beloved classics, such as the rich and satisfying Double Fold Vanilla and the indulgent Chocolate Gooey Brownie, their true claim to fame lies in their unique and surprising combinations. Flavors like Strawberry Honey Balsamic with Black Pepper or Arbequina Olive Oil challenge conventional ideas of what ice cream can be, and they do so with delicious success. A customer review highlighted the delight of discovering these unusual flavors, mentioning the Olive Oil and the Gruyère Tomato Custard as personal favorites. These flavors are not just gimmicks; they are carefully crafted to deliver a balanced and unforgettable taste.
Salt & Straw is also known for its limited edition series, which keeps the menu fresh and exciting. For example, their "Apple Series" offered a seasonal twist with flavors like Apple and Cheddar Cinnamon Rolls and Hoppy Apple Cider Sorbet. These rotating options ensure that there is always something new to discover, making repeat visits a must for dedicated fans. The shop also offers vegan options, such as the Hazelnut Cookies & Cream and Freckled Mint Chocolate Chip, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a scoop.
Beyond the ice cream itself, Salt & Straw has a casual and trendy atmosphere that makes it a great spot for a quick visit. The shop is often bustling with groups of friends and families, all eager to try the latest flavor. The brand is also known for its community outreach, a point that a customer appreciated, adding to the overall positive reputation. Whether you're grabbing a cone to enjoy on the go or taking home a pint to savor later, the experience at Salt & Straw is always a positive one.
The convenient location and welcoming environment make it an ideal stop during a day out in the West Village. A fall festival staple: vanilla-infused caramel ribbons run throughout a simple, crisp apple sherbet Contains: Milk

Classic Pints
- Chocolate Gooey Brownie $14.95
For anyone who eats warm brownies right out of the pan. We fold fudgy chocolate-y brownie batter into intensely rich chocolate ice cream. Contains: Milk, Wheat, Eggs
- Hazelnut Cookies & Cream (V) $14.95
Our Oregon take on a national favorite. We spike coconut cream with bourbon vanilla, fold in crushed sandwich cookies, and ripple in hazelnut butter fudge. Contains: Tree Nuts (hazelnut, coconut), Wheat
- Salted, Malted, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough $14.95
Made with the same bold malt you’d use to brew amber ale, our cookie dough is perfectly salty—we use two types of salt. Thick malted fudge rounds it all out. Contains: Milk, Wheat
- Sea Salt W/ Caramel Ribbons $14.95
Our reimagination of the classic. We spike our cream with just enough Guatemalan fleur de sel to bring out its nuances, then drizzle in ribbons of our hand-burned caramel. Contains: Milk
- Double Fold Vanilla $14.95
It’s called “double fold” for a reason: Our friends at Singing Dog use twice as many vanilla beans in their extract to pack an incredible punch. This definitely ain’t vanilla vanilla. Contains: Milk
- Chocolate Babka With Hazelnut Fudge $14.95
Babka-infused sweet cream with hazelnut fudge and chocolate stracciatella. Made with Breads Bakery Contains: Milk, Tree Nuts (hazelnuts)
- Pistachio And Ricotta Cannoli $14.95
Pistachio ice cream, ricotta ribbons, cannoli shell, candied nuts.
- Strawberry Honey Balsamic W/ Black Pepper $14.95
A strawberry triple threat. We steal a trick from the Italians, using balsamic and citrusy cubeb black pepper to help coax out the fruit's acidity and brightness. Contains: Milk
- Honey Lavender $14.95
Bliss for lavender lovers. We steep pounds of lavender petals in local honey, bringing out more complex, herbaceous flavors than you’ve ever experienced. Contains: Milk
- Arbequina Olive Oil $14.95
Ice cream illuminates this incredible Oregon olive oil's velvety texture and tropical, grassy notes. At once simple and wildly complex. Contains: Milk

Coconut water and a little sugar are the only things we need to let the sweet-tart quality of strawberries shine in this creamy, refreshing flavor. Contains: Tree Nuts (coconut)
- Coffee & Love Nuts $14.95
Coffee ice cream studded with glazed, chocolate-coated pecans Contains: Milk, Tree Nuts (pecans, coconut)

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Fell in love with Salt and Straw visiting Seattle a couple of years ago. Ended up getting their cook book and it is 🔥. Excited to finally get to visit in NYC closer to home. Love how they encourage you to taste the flavors and use proper silverware to reduce waste. My wife and I shared a two scoop cone and it was massive. Ice cream is creative and delicious at this spot.
July 06 · Chris WangThe popular chain from Oregon. Partly owned by Dwayne Johnson. I like them for their unique flavors which your probably not see anywhere, has the effect of reducing guilt and their community outreach is outstanding as well. My favorite is the Olive oil one. The one I had recently Gruyère Tomato Custard. I also love the Rhubarb Crumble w/ Toasted Anise
August 02 · Santos ShettyNice store but it could have been cleaner. One of the freezers weren't running well and was dripping water over the ice cream pints. Besides that that apple tart custard is a must try and my regular favorite is sea salt caramel ice cream
September 14 · Queen KWhile visiting NYC we came across this ice cream spot. We knew it was good when we saw the line down the sidewalk. Line moved quickly, staff was friendly and helpful and so informative explaining the different flavors. We got the sea salt with caramel ribbons and it was delicious with the homemade waffle cone. Highly recommend.
July 16 · Mel JohnsonSkip the flight and go for a scoop! My friend and I shared a flight, but the scoops were tiny. My husband got a double scoop that was significantly larger than our combined samples. His waffle cone was fresh, while our waffle chips were stale. The ice cream itself was good, but honestly, Van Leeuwen down the street is better.
