Five stars — without question. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with great music that sets the mood just right. When we arrived, our table wasn’t ready yet, but the host was incredibly kind and suggested we wait at the wine bar next door. We were warmly welcomed there, had a lovely drink, and honestly didn’t mind the wait at all.Our server Anya was absolutely fantastic — knowledgeable, attentive, and full of warmth. She could tell us about every dish and drink in detail and made the whole evening feel special. The open kitchen is beautiful to look at, and it’s genuinely fun to watch the chefs work — the whole team is impressive. As for the food: everything was spot on. Our favorites were the tuna, grilled vegetables, beef rib, sweetbreads, and the lamb kebab. All were must-tries.Shmone isn’t flashy or over-the-top — it’s the kind of place you want to keep coming back to. I only wish I’d discovered it sooner. Already planning my next visit. - Artyom Baibuz

SHMONÉ Introduce

In a city overflowing with world-class dining, SHMONÉ has quickly established itself as a beacon of modern Israeli cuisine, earning a coveted Michelin star and the admiration of New Yorkers. Located in the vibrant heart of Greenwich Village, this restaurant offers a culinary experience that is both sophisticated and deeply rooted in Levantine traditions. SHMONÉ's philosophy is simple yet ambitious: to take fresh, seasonal ingredients and transform them into dazzling, memorable dishes. The menu changes daily, which means every visit is a unique discovery, driven by the freshest available produce and the creative inspiration of the chefs. This dedication to a market-driven approach ensures a meal that is always dynamic, fresh, and full of surprises. It's a place that isn't about being flashy or over-the-top, but rather about creating a warm, welcoming, and exceptional experience that makes you want to return again and again.

The atmosphere at SHMONÉ is a key part of its appeal. It strikes a perfect balance between a cozy, intimate space and a lively, trendy spot. The décor is understated and elegant, creating a romantic and upscale vibe without feeling stuffy. A major highlight is the open kitchen, which serves as a central hub of energy and artistry. Diners seated at the counter get a front-row seat to the culinary show, watching the chefs work their magic with precision and passion. This interactive element adds to the excitement and makes the meal feel like a special event. The music is thoughtfully chosen to set the mood, and the overall ambiance is designed to put guests at ease, encouraging them to linger and enjoy the evening. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply treating yourself to a fantastic meal, the setting at SHMONÉ is perfect for creating lasting memories.

The culinary offerings at SHMONÉ go far beyond what you might expect from a typical Mediterranean or Israeli restaurant. The menu is a poetic and creative exploration of flavors, with dishes divided into whimsical categories like "Wheat Creatures," "Earth Creatures," "Ocean Creatures," and "Animal Creatures." While the menu changes daily, you can expect to find truly exceptional items that highlight the best of the season. Favorites that have garnered praise include the Hot Jerusalem Bagel, a knockout dish that is both simple and perfect, and the Lamb Kebab, which is said to transport you back to Jerusalem. The dishes are designed to be shared, encouraging a communal dining experience where guests can sample a wide variety of the kitchen's creations. This approach allows diners to fully appreciate the breadth and depth of the chefs' talents, from perfectly grilled seafood to expertly prepared meats and inventive vegetable dishes.

A significant part of the SHMONÉ experience is their impressive beverage program. The restaurant boasts a great wine list, a selection of unique cocktails with playful names like "Helen of Troy" and "The Cocktail Has No Name," and an extensive list of absinthe drips. This focus on high-quality drinks complements the food beautifully and adds another layer of sophistication to the evening. The staff is known for being incredibly knowledgeable about both the food and the drinks, and they are more than happy to offer recommendations and detailed descriptions. This attentive and warm service is often highlighted in customer reviews, with guests praising servers for making them feel special and well-cared for. From the moment you arrive, even if there’s a wait, the hospitality is top-notch, with the team going out of their way to ensure you have a pleasant time. This seamless blend of exceptional food, a welcoming atmosphere, and impeccable service is what makes SHMONÉ a truly five-star experience.

While the high price point and the need for reservations are part of the experience, the value provided by SHMONÉ makes it well worth it. It’s a place for a long, celebratory dinner where you can indulge in every course, from a variety of small plates to decadent desserts like Pistachio Tiramisu and Chocolate Mousse. The restaurant has become a destination for food lovers from all over, and its reputation as a Michelin-starred spot only adds to its allure. It’s also a welcoming space for everyone, including members of the LGBTQ+ community, reinforcing its inclusive and friendly nature. For a meal that is both an elegant and a fun experience, SHMONÉ stands out as one of the best choices in New York City. Its ability to combine fine dining quality with a relaxed, approachable atmosphere is a rare feat, and it’s a place you’ll be eager to visit again.
