What is Worth Choosing
The menu at Zhongzhong Noodles is extensive and showcases both traditional dishes and unique flavor combinations. For first-time visitors or those seeking the most beloved items, here is a breakdown of what is truly worth trying:
The Noodle Stars:
The undisputed champion and most-liked dish is the Szechuan Braised Beef Noodle ($17.95). This signature bowl features a 36-hour beef bone broth, tender beef shank, and is prepared in the Chongqing Szechuan style. While some reviewers note its significant spiciness and distinct flavor profile, its popularity speaks for itself, offering a bold and authentic taste of Chinese cuisine.
For a less fiery, yet equally rich experience, the Shredded Chicken Noodle ($16.95) is a fantastic alternative. Made with a 24-hour stewed chicken broth, shredded chicken breast, mushroom, and goji berry, it's a comforting, non-spicy favorite. The Tomato & Sliced Beef Noodle ($16.95), with its fresh tomato broth, has garnered high praise from customers who prefer a non-spicy, 'real soup' that is flavorful and not overly salty.
Highly Recommended Small Bites & Sides:
You can't go wrong with the dumplings and wontons. The Pork Soup Dumplings ($9.99) are a consistently top-rated item, offering the delightful burst of flavor that xiao long bao is known for. The Spicy Wonton in Chili Oil ($9.99) is another customer favorite, celebrated for hitting the right balance of flavor and heat. For a lighter bite, the Marinated Fried Chicken (5 Pc) ($6.95), featuring Japanese and Thai-style marination, is a well-liked option.
Rice Bowl Selections:
If you prefer rice over noodles, Zhongzhong offers several substantial rice bowls. The Marinated Beef Rice Bowl ($14.95), with Japanese-style marinated sliced beef, onion, a braised egg, and vegetables, is a highly favored dish. The Braised Pork Rice Bowl ($14.95), an authentic Shanghai-nese style offering, is another comforting and well-received choice.
In conclusion, Zhongzhong Noodles - Bronx is an essential stop for anyone in New York seeking high-quality, authentic, and generously portioned Asian noodle dishes. Its welcoming environment, accessibility, range of services, and commitment to flavor cement its status as a must-try local gem in the Bronx. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I loved my tomato beef soup, not spicy. The beef was tender and the soup was not too salty. There was a good amount of bok choy, an egg, and fresh tomatoes. I will come back for these noodles; it's definitely one of the best I've tried in NYC. The soup feels like a REAL soup, not one of those fake Chinese noodles. My husband's soup was Szechuan beef noodles, it was very spicy and had a weird flavor, which is not for everyone. We didn't like that particular flavor. Peas in that soup were somewhat hard too.The portions were big.It was clean but quiet in the restaurant, some music wouldn't hurt. Not crowded.
April 20 · Polina AlievaIf I lived closer, I'd be ordering from here everyday. I love the food here, specifically the braised beef noodles and the spicy wontons. It has just the right amount of spiciness and the flavor is so good. The staff here is also so nice and accommodating! Zoey, specifically, is amazing as she always makes sure my order is right and she's always friendly and professional.
May 06 · Gen LI ordered the shredded chicken ramen bowl for lunch and the fried chicken. The fried chicken had a strange taste and was extremely pink inside, that I was not a fan of, I couldn't eat it. As I began to eat the ramen bowl, I decided to break apart the bok choy into smaller pieces to make it easier to eat. As I lifted up one of the leaves, I noticed a small black dot with legs. To my horror, I realized it was an insect. Please beware because if they do not clean their produce thoroughly and quality checking, I am afraid to know what else they do not clean. I had to throw out my food, super disappointing since this place has high ratings.
May 13 · Aida AcostaReally cool find with great service! The place is pretty small, but we were there around 7pm and we were able to get a table. We got the Szechuan style braised beef noodle, tomato noodle soup, vegan beef dumpling, and wonton in chili sauce!! I really love spicy food and to me they weren’t that spicy, but my friend is a bit less tolerant and says it was… take it for what you will. Really good food, good service, and good price!
October 27 · Elaine GilfillanWhat an amazing experience! I'm from Florida visiting and this food was absolutely delicious.Small businesses here in NYC are the back bone of the city and culture. Service was on point and attentive, ambiance was very welcoming and professional. The Bronx clearly has a hidden gem! Also tons of friendly people coming in and out throughout my visit.Totally worth it, must try!!!
