Aji Limon Peruvian Restaurant Introduce
For New Jersey diners seeking an authentic and flavor-rich culinary adventure, Aji Limon Peruvian Restaurant in Clifton offers a deep dive into one of the world's most lauded and diverse cuisines. As a dedicated Peruvian restaurant, Aji Limon showcases the unique blend of indigenous, Spanish, Chinese (Chifa), and Japanese influences that define Peruvian gastronomy. The restaurant’s comprehensive menu highlights the regional diversity of Peru, from the fresh, citrus-cured seafood of the coast to the hearty, savory stews of the mountains.
The atmosphere at Aji Limon is designed to be inviting, described as Casual, Cozy, Quiet, Romantic, and Trendy, making it suitable for a variety of occasions, from a quick solo lunch to an intimate dinner date or a gathering for groups. The restaurant enhances its dining experience with decorative Peruvian picture frames and, notably, offers live music, though some patrons have observed that the music selection during certain hours, such as English music at lunchtime, might not align with the expectation of traditional Peruvian folklore music. This detail suggests a lively, contemporary venue that may sometimes prioritize a trendy vibe over strict cultural adherence in its ambient sounds.
The extensive menu is a testament to the richness of Peruvian cuisine, featuring classic appetizers like PAPA A LA HUANCAINA (potatoes with creamy yellow pepper sauce) and CAUSA CRIOLLA (layered mashed potato), alongside mainstays such as the famous LOMO SALTADO (sautéed beef strips) and a wide range of CEVICHES. For lunch, the "Menu del Dia" or fix-price set menu is a popular option, available on weekdays ($14.00) and weekends ($15.00), offering great value. However, some recent customer feedback indicates that there might be occasional inconsistencies in food quality, with specific mentions of dishes being overly salty or fried items like tostones being dry and overcooked. Diners should also be prepared for an observed practice of an extra charge for using a credit card, a policy sometimes implemented by local businesses.
Despite minor criticisms related to consistency and operational details, Aji Limon remains a key player in bringing authentic Peruvian flavors to the New Jersey dining scene. Its commitment to offering dishes like ARROZ CON MARISCOS (rice with seafood), TALLARIN VERDE CON BISTEK (steak with green pesto spaghetti), and a generous selection of traditional "Platos Criollos" ensures a memorable and distinctive culinary journey for its patrons.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I came today to eat MENU which is a Peruvian word that simply translates to a set menu for a fix price. So I ordered the Papa Huancaina for appetizer and Pollo al horno con Russian salad and white rice. First, the appetizer flavor of the yellow sauce was off very hard of pinpoint what it was but on top of that was salty to the extreme. The main course was ok the Chicken was really oven cook soft and ok flavor a bit salty though and the Russian salad was again salty. The ambient was clean and the decorative was tasteful with Peruvian Pictures frames however, music a bit loud for lunch time and English music. It kills me that Peru has an extraordinary folklore music but so far no Peruvian restaurant I have visited they play. There was an older couple taking care of 4 tables and they seem overwhelmed. Last thing I just got the bill and again another business with the extra charge for using credit card.
July 29 · Michaelangelo VillaOrdered to go leche de Tigre, super disappointed. I used to always order from here but the consistency and quality is not the same. Paid for an overly salty leche de Tigre and tostones that have to have been refried at least three times. They were hard, dry, and overcooked.
September 01 · Enmely SorianoI honestly wanted to leave a good review. I'm not sure what happened today but nothing was flavorful. This is not normally the quality or service I get when coming here but I was told they have new owners now. The menu changed, the food has changed, and even the drinks have changed. I used to enjoy my passion fruit with my meal and had to settle for a Pepsi since they no longer serve all the juices they use to. I hope the staff gets better trained and the cook steps up the game with flavors. The food looked great but once you try it you notice the lack of flavor. I'm just overall disappointed with today's visit.
July 31 · CarlosI just had a Birthday party there yesterday. Food was amazing. Byob is great for us :) The service is top notch! The owner cares about your experience there and are very nice. They are super accommodating. Great place to eat anytime and bring a crew to celebrate. My guests will return on their own! Thank you Aji Limon owner and staff.
January 18 · Angelo GomezTried the lomo saltodo here. First timer. I just loved it. Very large portion of food. Can't complete it. We asked for spicy sauce and they were soooooo good. The only thing they could avoid is to put less french fries in lomo. I almost had 20 prices of fries which I couldn't eat. Other than that , nice ambience and great food. A lil pricey (20$ per head for a lomo) but it's good for once a month kinda food.
