Boka Introduce
For those in the know, Boka is a name that evokes a sense of culinary nostalgia and excitement. A true East Village institution, this Korean restaurant is celebrated for its legendary fried chicken, which many loyal patrons have dubbed the "G.O.A.T" (Greatest of All Time). After a period of being closed, the restaurant has been revived like a phoenix, finding a new home on 2nd Avenue, much to the delight of its dedicated following. The wait was worth it, as the new location has continued to serve the same delectable, crispy-on-the-outside and juicy-on-the-inside chicken that made it a hotspot on St. Marks Place. Beyond its famous fried chicken, Boka offers a diverse and comprehensive menu that caters to a wide range of tastes, featuring traditional Korean dishes, modern comfort food, and an array of small plates perfect for sharing. The atmosphere is casual and chill, making it a comfortable place for a relaxed meal.
Boka's menu is a testament to its commitment to both traditional Korean flavors and modern culinary creativity. The fried chicken is a must-try, available as wings, drumsticks, or a combo, with a perfectly crunchy skin and flavorful meat. But the offerings extend far beyond the chicken. The "To Share" section is perfect for groups, with options like "Spicy Rice Cakes," "Japchae" (pan-fried glass noodles), and "Korean Corn Cheese." The menu also features classic Korean comfort food like various stews and soups, including "Kimchi Jjigae" and "Soon Tofu." For those looking for a heartier meal, the "Meats" section includes favorites like "Bulgogi," "L.A. Galbi," and "Fire Chicken and Cheese." You can also find a great selection of "Bibimbap" and "Fried Rice," as well as "Korean Pancakes" and "Udon" dishes. The combination of traditional dishes and more unique items like the "Bulgogi Philli Sandwich" makes Boka a versatile spot that can satisfy any craving.
Customer reviews consistently highlight the quality of the food and the friendly, relaxed atmosphere. A particularly glowing review from a longtime fan describes the revived restaurant as a "source of comfort," praising the "delectably crunchy and juicy" soy chicken and the satisfying kimchi pancake. The review also notes the family-style nature of the meals, making it a great place to gather. The staff's helpfulness is also frequently mentioned, with one customer noting that they were even allowed to bring their small dog inside. The laid-back and chill vibe makes it a perfect place for a casual lunch or a lively dinner. While the restaurant has a "cash only" policy, this is a minor detail for many who are simply happy to have their favorite Korean fried chicken spot back in action.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The best place for KOREAN FRIED CHICKEN! The chicken wings are always delicious and crisp on the outside. The service was quick and helpful. They even let my dog in (I asked them before going in and they approved but they did wonder how big my dog is. We had a Maltipoo so it’s a small dog). Atmosphere was chill! I’d definitely recommend this spot. I’ll be back this Friday LOL
August 26 · David Garcia(Cash only)The G.O.A.T fried chicken joint has been revived like a phoenix! For folks in the know, Boka used to be a hotspot on St. Marks. When the restaurant closed, I remember folks going on their social media page asking about any updates for its return.Safe to say, the wait was worth it. The soy chicken was delectably crunchy and juicy. The kimchi pancake was also very satisfying. Of course the watermelon juice was refreshing as always. Eating this meal was truly a source of comfort. This is a great place to go for a family style meal!
July 15 · Vincent PhamI ate at this place last night. The chicken was really good. Super dense, thick crust, very juicy, and well seasoned. The half soy, half hot was good for me. The wings were a little juicier and more tender than the drumsticks, so I'd lean towards wings next time. I paid around $26 to $28 for a beer, six wings, and three drumsticks. Could have gotten thirty wings. Overall, a good experience.
June 24 · Jack MaguireBoka is the kind of spot you keep coming back to. The fried chicken is insanely crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside—each drumstick is packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. The cheese fries were fully loaded and hit all the right comfort food notes, and the spicy tteokbokki added just the right kick to the table. What makes it even better? Pairing it all with a bottle of chilled sake and some good company. The vibe here is relaxed but lively, perfect for casual hangouts or late-night bites.Highly recommend if you’re looking for quality Korean fried chicken and comforting sides that hit the spot every time.
May 04 · 김민준Great chicken great service. Spicy chicken, crispy and cheesy rice cake was fried on the skin(i forgot to take picture), kimchi or radish comes separately ordered as sides, galbi was yummy and kimchi fried rice was tangy.Fun bathroom lights and great savory salad. No paper towels but dryer provided good toilet paper and fun window
