★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This is my second time here. first time with my sister and second time w my bestie. loved it both times. We are two vegetarian Indians and we loved the food and drinks, I definitely recommend going here again and again. I think if you grew up having south asian flavors, you’ll appreciate and love the vision of this restaurant and nostalgic feel. We spent $58 for all of this (including nimbu sherbet)🍞 Chili cheese toast + tomato soup is a very cool indian twist on an american classic. It was torched to give it a nice outer shell with a creamy inside (like crème brûlée).🥪 We loved the paneer house sandwich it was toasted in Amul butter (iykyk). It was toasted to have a nice crunchy exterior. It was spiced the right amount and had a very nostalgic taste for us.🧈 Bun maska was soooo buttery and the bread was dense and soft. I liked dipping it in the tomato soup.☕️ The royal chai had a perfect blend of sweet and salty, topped with saffron!🍋 Nimbu sherbet so refreshing. not too sweet and can be customized with spices.🛍️ Not to mention the dukaan has cute south asian inspired nicknacks.
May 24 · Bharti Mehtafontainhas is a warm and inviting cafe that nails both the vibe and the food. The ambiance is homely—unpretentious, relaxed, and full of character. It feels like the kind of place you’d stumble upon in a quieter lane of Goa or Mumbai. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive. The menu is a curation of comfort food. Highlights include the Paneer House Sandwich, packed with flavor and the nostalgic Chili Cheese Toast, which hits just the right spicy-cheesy balance. And don’t skip the Maska Bun—a simple pleasure that’s hard to find done right outside India. I’ll definitely be going back.
May 29 · Janvi PatelNice space with a really nice chai and snacks menu. Chai smell is fresh and strong. They also have a small merch shop with many cute things. Their tote bags are the best.
August 28 · Bhakti DalviI good place to meet for a cup of chai. The server seems minimally familiar with the food. He return with 3/4 orders. Ordered a bhel puri salad the only gluten free option available. The seasoning of the sauces tasted more like ketchup than bhel, and nothing like it did the last time.
September 25 · Natasha MathiasTHE place to get authentic chai in DUMBO. Great vibe and atmosphere. Wonderful proprietors. The food is very good - nice place to grab some down time and relax as well. Highly recommend.
